Fighting fires on the social justice front line is a little like whack-a-mole, with your arm in a sling

Fighting fires on the social justice front line is a little like whack-a-mole, with your arm in a sling

Peter Rouleau of the group Voices for Change Halton attended the Put Food in the Budget campaign meeting on Friday December 2. He sent us this poetic reflection on the meeting.

If you would like to make a donation to the Put Food in the Budget campaign you can do so here.

Afterthoughts

Riding out the storm of austerity

Huddled together on a raft made of dented cans

Lost in the ramen sea

near the banks bottom line

stranded on this vessel ringing the bell for social justice

wondering, wandering, willingly

Fighting fires on the social justice front line

is a little like whack-a-mole, with your arm in a sling

Build a wall from dented cans held together with K.D.

skating at the swamp and the ice is getting thinner

corporations want to help the poor by helping themselves

one mans poison is another mans profit

Racism, classism, nepotism, austerity, prosperity,

charity, big banks, food banks, shooting blanks,

blankets, bigger jets, pilot projects,

reject, eject,  appreciation , appropriation

This Godzilla has no conscience so set your social justice Fazer's on stun

Keep up the pressure on this manipulation nation untouchable corporation
