Heat or Eat? Winter is Coming. It’s an Emergency
Eleven people drove down from Bancroft on Tuesday October 12 to bring Glenn Thibeault the Minister of Energy a public letter signed by more than 300 residents of North Hastings County. The letter demands that Glenn Thibeault come to Bancroft for an emergency public meeting before the rates are scheduled to increase on November 1. The purpose of the public meeting is for residents to demand immediate action by the Minister of Energy to reduce high hydro rates and stop service disconnects.

Dressed in full gnome regalia the delegation from North Hastings County, joined by members of the Put Food in the Budget campaign, and entered the MacDonald Block building at 900 Bay Street in an act of joyous rebellion.
Although the police stopped the delegation in the lobby – two members had slipped unnoticed upstairs to the Minister’s office. The group refused to leave until someone from the Minister’s office accepted the letter. The group demanded that the Minister reply to the letter by Friday (tomorrow).
